Turn On: Arousal Explained for Every Body

Do you have trouble getting turned on or finding your desire? Dreaming of rocking your partner’s world but at the moment it feels more like easy listening?  This class is designed for those who want to turn up the heat, or rekindle that long absent flame. Certified Sex Therapist Laura Rademacher will teach you about the physical, mental, and emotional aspects of getting turned on for people with all kinds of bodies. Fun, low pressure ways to communicate about what turns you on or off will be provided. Laura will also cover “troubleshooting” strategies for when something changes (in a not-good way) about you or your partners’ arousal patterns, such as difficulty getting erections or having orgasms. This class is designed for people of all genders, orientations, and relationship styles. Introverts and shy folks, don’t worry. Attendees are welcome to sit and listen and will never be put on the spot to answer questions.

The Principles of Pleasure: Four Important Skills to Help Therapists Work with the Good Stuff

Most therapists get little to no training in how to address sexuality in their practice. This workshop will build your competence in working with sexual pleasure in a way that meets your clients’ needs. Even if you are not a sex therapist, your clients will have questions and concerns about sexual health issues, satisfaction in relationships and their own bodies. Whether you work with couples or individuals, your clients care about increasing pleasure in their relationships and with themselves. This workshop will cover why pleasure is an important topic in the therapy room (spoiler alert-it increases positive health outcomes, self-esteem, and relationship satisfaction) and specific skills for handling these topics without embarrassment for you or your clients. All skills presented are welcoming and inclusive of people of all genders, orientations, and relationship styles. This workshop is designed for therapists with no specific training in sexuality issues while also including a fresh perspective for those who work in the field of sex therapy.

Can be offered as a 1 hour lecture or 1.5-2hr workshop that includes small group exercises

The Principles of Pleasure: Bringing up the (Important!) Good Stuff as Medical Professionals

Specifically designed for those in the medical health fields, this is the workshop that is going to build your competence in bringing up sexual pleasure in a way that meets your patients’ needs and improves their health outcomes. Whether you work with couples or individuals, your clients care about increasing pleasure in their relationships and with themselves. However, studies show they often do not ask their medical providers questions about sex or pleasure. This means it becomes the provider’s job to bring up these important topics. This workshop will cover why pleasure is an important topic for medical professionals even if you do not specialize in sexuality and never plan on diagnosing sexual dysfunction (spoiler alert-it increases positive health outcomes), It will also teach specific skills for handling these topics without embarrassment for you or your clients. This workshop strives to help you work with a wide variety of patients and the skills presented are welcoming and inclusive of people of all genders, orientations, and relationship styles.

Working with Pleasure and Consent in Long-Term Relationships

Consent is the foundation of pleasure. Nothing erodes a sexual relationship as fast as not honoring a partner’s boundaries. While it would be wonderful if every sexual experience included enthusiastic consent, the reality is many long-term relationships experience instances of less-than-enthusiastic consent (“maintenance sex” or “I’ll do it because you want to”), partners pushing the boundaries of consent, hurtful misunderstandings, and sadly, sometimes non-consensual sexual experiences. This workshop will outline how to use the Spectrum of Consent tool to help clients better understand how consent functions in their relationship and to shift their experiences toward enthusiastic consent. Skills introduced will include how to build communication skills around consent issues, building connections between consent and pleasure, supporting and validating partners who have experienced non-consensual experiences, and rebuilding trust after bad experiences (when appropriate).
